Hamilton man in critical condition after assault near Main Street and Burris Street

Update: A 33-year-old woman from Hamilton has been arrested and charged with attempted murder. A 27-year-old man is also wanted for attempted murder and robbery.

Police were called to the area of Main St. E and Burris St. around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday for reports of a disturbance.

They found a 30-year-old man with injuries consistent with being stabbed. He was taken to hospital where he underwent life-saving surgery. He is still listed in critical condition.

Police say two of the attackers stole the victim’s car keys and drove off in a white Acura TLX.

The 33-year old woman who rents out the apartment returned to the suite after the attack and was arrested.

Madelene Peternel, who also goes as Madelene Divers has been charged with attempted murder and robbery. She appeared in court today and remains in custody.

Police are looking for 27-year-old Jason Anthony Long. He is described as 5’6, 150lbs, with a mohawk style haircut, sleeve tattoos, teardrop tattoo under his right eye and tattoos on both sides of his neck.

Long is considered dangerous, if you see him do not approach and call 9-1-1.

A police presence can be expected in this area until tomorrow.
