Hamilton man earns 2 gold medals at the 2023 Invictus Games

A Hamilton man is bringing home two gold medals in this year’s Invictus Games taking place in Germany.
The Invictus Games mark an annual international multi-sport event for wounded, injured or sick service people.
Master Corporal Rory Figliola, an Army Infantry soldier from Dundas has taken the top spot in men’s discus and shot-put in the IF2 class for those participants with impairments to either limb.
In a statement on the Team Canada profile page, Figliola spoke on overcoming the challenges brought on by his injury.
“Mentally it’s rough, when you can’t play the sports or do the activities you love. The next thing you know you’re just in this black hole. It’s taken a lot of work to get where I am now, and more work to go.”
The 2023 Games will have him competing in cycling, wheelchair basketball and track and field.
