Hamilton man charged following assault on local hiking trail

Hamilton police have charged a 28-year-old man in connection with an assault on a hiking trail in the city’s west end on Sept. 30.

It happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Caleb’s Walk trail in the area of Dalewood Cres. and Oak Knoll Dr.

Police say the victim was walking in a heavily wooded area when they were assaulted by an unknown man.

Officers have now arrested and charged Tony Robert Gordon of Hamilton with assault cause bodily harm, possession schedule 1 drugs and four counts of fail to comply probation.

Investigators are asking any residents in the area who have not yet reviewed their video surveillance to look for suspicious behaviour between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Sept. 30.
