Hamilton man arrested following reports of sexual assault

First Published:

Hamilton police have arrested a 38-year-old man following reports of a sexual assault that happened earlier this month.

Officers say they received reports Sunday of a sexual assault that occurred on Oct. 3.

Police say a man was driving a green Dodge pick-up truck in the area of Cannon and Sherman Streets in Hamilton when he approached two women offering to give them a ride.

Investigators say the suspect allegedly drove the women back to his house where he then sexually assaulted them.

Hamilton police arrested and charged Dwayne Smith from Hamilton with two sexual assault offences, two sexual interference charges and one charge of possessing child pornography.

The department believes that there may be more victims and ask anyone with information to contact police.
