Hamilton International Airport adds daily flights to, from Iceland

First Published:

Hamilton International Airport is welcoming a new low-cost airline. Starting Thursday, PLAY Airlines will run a daily flight to and from Iceland.

PLAY’s first Canadian flight departed from Hamilton at approximately 6:30 p.m. to Iceland which is just under six hours from Hamilton

The airline says it’s a budget option for travellers going to European destinations. Starting price for a ticket to Iceland is $199. PLAY Airlines is a no-frills airline, with no magazines, wi-fi, or any entertainment on board.

WestJet recently announced it would take over and consolidate both Swoop and Sunwing into its main carrier.

Airport officials say there is still room for another discount carrier in Hamilton. The CEO of Flair says that even though there is only one flight out of Hamilton now, he says adding more is not out of the question.
