Hamilton, Halton, Niagara regions among worst for air quality in Ontario

Brantford, Hamilton and Milton are among the worst-hit areas for poor air quality due to forest fires across Ontario and Quebec.
The three areas along with Oakville and St. Catharines are ranking number eight on the province’s air quality health index, putting residents in the high-risk category.

Environment Canada expects smoky conditions to continue possibly into Saturday in some areas as 499 active fires continue to burn throughout the country.
Government officials continue to advise that individuals with lung and heart conditions, older adults and children are at the highest risk of experiencing adverse health effects due to the smoke.
Additionally, Environment Canada says people should continue to stay indoors with their windows closed and use an air purifier if possible.
