Fire Chief Dave Cunliffe said that there were no water hydrants available in this area and six water tankers were dispatched in order to fight the fire.
Fire crews advised nearby residents to close their windows, shut down air-cycling units and stay inside as smoke filled the air.
Fire departments in Grimsby and West Lincoln were called in to help, allowing for three additional tankers to respond to the scene.
Cunliffe said over 35 fire units were involved in various operations at the height of the fire.
“This was a stubborn fire and took crews approximately two hours to bring it under control,” he said.
The Office of the Fire Marshall and the Ministry of the Environment have been notified and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
No injuries have been reported and the damage is estimated to be in excess of $1.5 million.
