Hamilton fire crews bring Thanksgiving food drive back after 5 years

First Published:

After a five-year hiatus, the Hamilton Fire Department has brought back its long-standing tradition of hosting a Thanksgiving open house and food drive.

Dozens of stations across the city participated in the event, as an opportunity to provide food for those in need, as well as educate the public on fire safety.

Fire crews accepted donations of canned food and non-perishable items that have a long shelf-life, to be able to service the community for as long as possible.

The occasion also marked the end of Fire Prevention Week, but officials tell CHCH News that fire safety should always be top of mind.
