Halton police seek help identifying suspect in multiple break and enters

First Published:

Police are asking communities for help identifying a suspect in a series of break and enters since June in Halton and Hamilton homes.

Officers began investigating a series of daytime break and enters in June at homes in Burlington.

Detectives believe at least one person was involved with at least five entries along the Lakeshore area between Aldershot to near Oakville. They also believe one suspect was responsible for a series of break-ins that occurred in the Waterdown area of Hamilton.

The department says the man allegedly uses a bicycle and wears a yellow or orange reflective vest and carrying a newspaper or package before entering a home. Detectives say the man will enter unlocked homes or use tools to gain access.

Officers say residents were home during some of the break-ins.

Police say the suspect targets jewelry before trying to leave the home unnoticed. No one has been reported injured as a result of a break and enter, and no weapons have been reported to have been seen or used.

Investigators describe the suspect as a 25 to 35-year-old man with tanned skin, short brown hair, about five-foot-ten tall and with a medium or muscular build. He is also described as someone seen with short dark facial hair or freshly shaven.

Detectives say the man has also been seen wearing a beige baseball cap with a maple leaf design, a beige t-shirt with a large Guess symbol in the middle, blue shorts, black puma socks, yellow Nike running shoes, a large gray back pack and a large silver watch on his left wrist.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
