Halton police are expanding a program to help combat auto thefts. Project Oxygen began in May. It encourages people to put a GPS tracker like an Apple AirTag, or a tile tracker inside their vehicle, to try to reduce auto thefts and lead to more recoveries.

Initially, six dealerships in Oakville agreed to install the trackers for residents who own the dealership’s make of vehicle. Now, another five have signed on, one in Oakville, and four in Milton. Lexus of Oakville has expanded its service to people who live in Milton.
