Halton police arrest 18-year-old Quebec man after attempted carjacking

An 18-year-old man from Quebec has been arrested after he allegedly tried to carry out a carjacking in Milton on Thursday.

Police say they first saw the suspect when they were unable to stop a suspicious vehicle in Halton Hills in the early hours of the morning.

It was later discovered that the vehicle had been stolen from Georgetown.

After fleeing police, the suspicious vehicle crashed in a ditch near the intersection of Fourth Line and Number 5 Side Road and the driver abandoned the vehicle on foot.

Later in the same morning, around 9:10 a.m., the same suspect tried to carjack a vehicle parked in Milton in the area of Steeles Avenue East and James Snow Parkway.

Police say the occupant inside was able to lock the doors before the suspect gained entry to the vehicle.

After a short foot chase with officers, the suspect was arrested and charged.

Tim Fournier, 18, of Pincourt, Quebec faces multiple offences, including dangerous operation, flight from police, robbery, and possession of property obtained by crime.
