An 11-year-old girl is in hospital with life-altering injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Hamilton’s North End on Tuesday morning.

Hamilton police say a man in his 60s was driving in the area of Emerald and Keith streets around 8:45 a.m. when his blue Ford Mustang continued through the intersection and struck the young pedestrian, pinning her against a building.

Paramedics transported the girl to hospital, where she remains in stable condition with life-altering injuries.

Officers say the driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A portion of Emerald Street North and Keith Street were closed, but have since reopened.
