Funnel cloud spotted forming over Hamilton Mountain

A funnel cloud has been reported forming over the Hamilton Mountain late Tuesday afternoon as a weather advisory warns that more could develop.
Environment Canada released a weather advisory at 5 p.m., saying conditions will be favourable for the development of funnel clouds.
Meteorologists say these types of clouds are generated when weak rotation develops under quickly growing clouds or weak thunderstorms.

There is potential for a funnel cloud to turn into a weak landspout tornado if it intensifies.
These tornadoes can be strong enough to topple trees, damage roofs or toss debris short distances.
“Landspout tornadoes do not usually cause significant damage but can still be dangerous,” Environment Canada said.
