Four in police custody after assault, robbery in Brantford

Brantford police have four people in custody after a man was allegedly assaulted and robbed on Tuesday.

Officers say they received a report of a robbery and assault at around 5:30 a.m. on Tenth Ave. near Division St.

Investigators say a 19-year-old male victim was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

According to police, this was not a random incident and the involved parties were known to each other.

As a result of the investigation, police say four people from Brantford are stand charged with the following criminal code violations:

A 23-year-old man stands charged with:

  • Assault cause bodily harm
  • Failure to comply with undertaking

A 22-year-old man stands charged with:

  • Assault cause bodily harm

A 28-year-old female stands charged with:

  • Assault cause bodily harm, and

A 22-year-old female stands charged with:

  • Obstruct peace officer

The names of the accused cannot be released as they have not yet been sworn to in court.

Brantford police say there is no threat to public safety as a result of this incident.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
