A second apparent assassination attempt was made against former president Donald Trump at his golf course in West Palm Beach Sunday.
Secret service agents had fired at a man in the afternoon after spotting the muzzle of a rifle sticking out of a nearby bush while Trump was playing golf at his Trump International golf course.
Police say the gunman dropped the rifle and ran leaving behind the rifle, two backpacks, a GoPro camera and a scope used for aiming.
Officers arrested a 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh from Hawaii minutes after a “very urgent” alert detailed his vehicle and license plate number.
The former president posted on social media early Monday morning thanking local law enforcement, saying “it was certainly an interesting day!” Trump continued thanking the U.S. secret service, sheriff and police officers for keeping him safe.
