Montreal filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallée made waves at last year’s Academy Awards with his low-budget masterpiece Dallas Buyers Club, with the film earning 6 nominations and its leading men winning both actor categories. Vallée looks to build on that success with Wild, an adaptation of the best-selling memoir by Cheryl Strayed. The film had its Canadian premiere at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, which is where we caught up with the director to talk about the film’s production and the conditions Reese Witherspoon had to endure during the shoot.
