Empire Steel ‘here to stay’

Siemens vacated the property at 20 Myler St a few years ago and left behind 600,000 square feet of prime industrial space. Empire Steel has taken over the location and opened its doors today to host tours of the facility.
Company president Sherif Khalifa believes they have almost filled the entire building, once again. “We are here to stay and we hope to make a positive impact on the great city of Hamilton and make a positive impact on the community.”
Hamilton mayor Bob Bratina calls that good news. “The more things you produce, the more steel that we send out with high tolerances available for the automotive industry, the stronger and more sustainable our economy is. So this is extremely important for our city.”
Empire Steel sells flat-rolled steel coils to automotive, construction and appliance manufacturers in Africa and Europe.
