Elderly pedestrian dies of injuries after Hamilton Mountain crash

Police say an elderly pedestrian has died of his injuries in hospital one day after a collision on Hamilton Mountain.
Officers say the crash involving an SUV happened shortly after 10 a.m. Tuesday on Fennell Ave. near Upper Wellington St.
Initial reports indicated that a 77-year-old man did not have vital signs. However, emergency crews identified a pulse when they arrived at the scene and found him on the ground with a walker.

Paramedics transported the man to hospital in unstable life-threatening condition. Police confirmed the man succumbed to his injuries Wednesday.
The 91-year-old driver accused of hitting the elderly man with their vehicle remained at the scene. The Hamilton man was not injured.
The affected stretch of Fennell Ave. East was closed for several hours for an investigation, but has since reopened.
