Drunk driver, 17, charged after serious overnight collision in Fort Erie

A 17-year-old impaired driver has been arrested and charged following a serious single-vehicle collision in Fort Erie overnight that left one person in life-threatening condition.
Niagara police say they were called around 1 a.m. to Dominion Road between Kraft Road and Rose Avenue for reports of a serious collision.
Officers say a white 2022 BMW X3 with three occupants had left the roadway and struck a tree.
An 18-year-old woman from Niagara Falls was ejected from the vehicle due to the impact. She was taken to an out-of-region hospital with what is believed to be life-threatening injuries.
The 17-year-old male driver and a 19-year-old male passenger both from Niagara Falls were taken to hospital to be treated for what is believed to be minor injuries.
Investigators say the teen driver has now been arrested and charged with one count of impaired operation causing bodily harm and impaired operation with a blood alcohol content exceeding 80 mgs.
He is being held in custody awaiting a bail hearing on Wednesday.
Dominion Road remains closed from Kraft Road to Rose Avenue as the regional collision reconstruction unit continues to investigate the collision.
