Driver critical after collision knocks down hydro pole in Hamilton

A single-motor vehicle collision on Mohawk Road East in Hamilton knocked down a hydro pole and sent the driver of a van to hospital in critical condition Monday afternoon.

Severe damage to the pole located at Mohawk Road East and East 45th Street also caused a power outage and affected vehicular traffic.

Alectra Utilities was called out to address the damage to the pole.

Hamilton police closed Mohawk Road East for the investigation.
