Renowned environmentalist Dr. Jane Goodall is in Hamilton and speaking at two events at the Royal Botanical Gardens.
Some 400 students from grade four to six were invited to come to the RBG for a morning event called EcoFest.
The event saw Goodall speak about active exploration, and activities that immerse children in the natural world.

Later, she is returning to the RBG Centre to speak to an adult audience about the Gardens’ and her own efforts when it comes to conservation, wildlife preservation, and environmental education.
The RBG says it is a unique opportunity for Canadians to hear from one of the world’s leading thinkers and activists on the most pressing environmental issues of our time.

“It has been 16 years since I last visited RBG. I am very excited to see all their great conservation efforts in action,” Goodall said.
“I’ve been told the bald eagles and turtles are enjoying the habitats restored at RBG since my last visit, and I am interested in seeing these animals thriving in their natural habitats in Cootes Paradise and Hendrie Valley.”
Goodall is best known for her groundbreaking work with wild chimpanzees and has been a tireless advocate for animal welfare and environmental conservation.
