Crews investigate late evening house fire in Niagara Falls

Fire officials are investigating the cause of a blaze that ripped through a house in Niagara Falls last night. There were no injuries, but the house appears to be a total loss, along with everything inside, including a number of pets.
The flames lit up the residential neighbourhood of Niagara Falls just after 9:30 p.m. Saturday night. People in the street were watching the destruction.
The fire department fought the fire into the night, pouring water on the blaze to get it under control and hosing down neighbouring houses to protect them.

One person was in the house when the fire broke out but escaped safely.
Along with their belongings, they lost pets in the fire, including a hedgehog, snakes, lizards, and geckos.
There’s no estimate of damage yet, but the fire department says the house is probably going to have to be torn down.
There’s no word on what caused the fire.
