Drug arrest at Bieber mansion

(Update)

One of the strangest celebrity investigations of late involves a Canadian star. Police searched Justin Bieber’s Calabasas mansion Tuesday after a neighbour alleged Bieber threw eggs at his home causing thousands of dollars in damage. Police held a news conference Tuesday afternoon to discuss this investigation and although Bieber was not arrested, one of his associates was.

This all stems from an incident last Thursday. As we all know, throwing eggs at a persons home is illegal and can be considered a crime. But the resources used in todays search seems more than odd.

Helicopters were flying over Justin Bieber’s Calabasas neighbourhood as police searched his home. More than a dozen detectives showed up in 8 cars to conduct a search of the pop stars house. They were looking for evidence connected to the alleged egg-tossing vandalism case involving Beiber’s next door neighbour. LAPD officials say there was a significant amount of damage to the front exterior of the neighbor’s home, making the incident a felony. According to the LAPD, there only has to be $400 dollars damage to qualify as a felony, and in this case the damage is said to be as high as $15 thousand.

Bieber was not arrested, but a member of his entourage was. This video courtesy of TMZ, shows rapper Lil’ Za being taken away in relation to a substance, thought to be either cocaine or ecstasy, found inside the house. A representative of the LAPD said that the substance was not connected to Bieber, but the man was staying at Bieber’s house. A little while after the search, police conducted a news conference where they addressed why they would use so many officers for this type of incident.

Lt. David Thompson is with the Los Angeles Police Department: “In these types of situations, we don’t know what we’re going to confront. Mr. Beiber of course is cooperative in most cases. However, we don’t know who is staying at the house and we don’t know who might be under the influence of something. So, it’s always better to err on the side of safety. And I went along as well, just to be one of the numbers. And again, we did contact 7 or 8 people in the house. So, I was thankful that we had 12. I get that the eggs don’t seem that significant. But it does rise to the level of a felony. There is a victim in this case who had extensive damage done to their home. And that’s a serious incident.”

Another video released by TMZ claims to show the alleged incident though Bieber cannot be identified. When asked about the specific evidence they were looking for police would not comment directly but said that security video footage does help these types of investigations. They also said that Bieber was co-operative. But he remains under investigation.
