City of Hamilton to review road safety after cyclist dies in crash

Hamilton city councillors are looking to review the intersection of James Street North and York Boulevard after a collision last week that took the life of a cyclist.
This motion aims to prioritize the safety of vulnerable road users by studying safety enhancements at the intersection.
It also includes looking into banning right turns on red lights across the city of Hamilton.

The city has already banned right turns on red lights at many intersections, including along Main Street and King Street.
This also comes as the city released its annual collision report, which says that just over 68 per cent of pedestrian collisions and 65.5 per cent of cyclist collisions happened at intersections.
Reports also say that just over 77 per cent of all collisions involving cyclists and a little over 89 per cent of all collisions involving pedestrians resulted in injury.
