Hamilton puts 3 employees on paid leave after vaccine doses “inappropriately administered”

The City of Hamilton says three employees at a mobile clinic are now on paid leave after allegations that 15 COVID-19 vaccine doses were “inappropriately administered” to those who are not currently eligible.
The city says the concerns were raised by other personnel working at the mobile vaccination clinic. An investigation is underway but in the meantime, Hamilton public health says it will be reminding staff about their professional obligations to follow the established policies and the vaccine framework for prioritization.
Hamilton’s top doctor issued this statement: “The city is committed to ensuring that COVID-19 vaccines are administered in a way that is fair, equitable, and based on criteria that prioritize those that are most in need. Any actions designed to circumvent the vaccine program’s eligibility criteria are unethical and unacceptable.”
