The City of Hamilton has entered the eighth day of its ongoing cybersecurity incident — and with it, a slew of outages and cancellations that’s affecting city services across the board.

Council meetings, public health inspections and the city’s transit systems are just some of the casualties in Hamilton’s long list of impacted services.

Most recently, there has been a delay to the city’s spring recreation programs.

While the programs will continue to run according to their usual schedule, registration that set to open on Monday has been paused until further notice.

On Sunday, the city released an update on the outage and said all standing Committee meetings from now until March 15 have been cancelled so municipal staff can focus on the ongoing recovery effort.

The city says it plans to hold a Special Council Meeting first thing on Monday, where staff will provide Council with a confidential update on how the breach is being handled.

Earlier this week, when asked about the nature of the breach itself, Hamilton Mayor Andrea Horwath was reluctant to say much on the topic but did confirm that city staff and other tech experts were working to resolve the problem.

“While we can’t provide a concrete recovery timeline at this time, please be assured that the city is working diligently to resolve the situation as quickly and effectively as possible,” the city posted on its website.

The City of Hamilton has created a dedicated page on its website to address the outage and provide updates along the way.
