Canadians will come together Tuesday — to remember those who have died while serving our country. And the ceremony in Hamilton is one of the largest in the country.

Chairs have been set up for two to three-thousand people and organizers expect them all to be filled. The first 3 or 4 rows of seats will be reserved for veterans and dignitaries.

Veterans are expected from World War Two and onward from all subsequent campaigns in which Canadian Forces have fought.

Redeemer Choir and the Salvation Army Band will also be on hand to perform the music for the service. And there will be a very special tribute this year focusing on bomber command.

Brenda Barron, Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum: “And we’re going to have a very special event. Hopefully they will all be able to attend — all seven veterans from a single bomber crew. The average age, when they were at war was 19-years old. So they’re going to be in their 90’s. And we think this will be the last opportunity for all of them to attend as a group. In front of the Lancaster, that will be very emotional.”

The Lancaster will be providing the backdrop for the ceremony. The DC-3 will be doing the fly over at 11am instead. And that’s because the Lancaster made the flight to England earlier this year and with the focus on bomber command, it was thought that attendees would like a chance to see the Lancaster close up.

The service starts at 10:30am. CHCH will begin its coverage with Morning Live at 6am as Bob and Annette will be at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum.
