York police charge Grimsby man, 71, in child luring case

York Regional Police have charged a Grimsby man in connection with a child luring investigation.
Officers say the 71-year-old man claimed he was a therapist and would offer his services for free to a youth.
Investigators say the man frequently messaged the victim and met with them between November 2024 and February 2025. The man allegedly expressed his feelings toward the victim beyond a professional relationship.
The victim then notified York Regional Police in mid-February. Detectives identified a suspect and carried out a search warrant at a home in Grimsby on Wednesday.
Norman Behie was arrested and charged with luring a child.
Police say Behie was employed as a case worker and believe there may be more victims. They are encouraged to contact investigators as soon as possible.
Anyone with further information is asked to contact the York Regional Police Counter Exploitation Unit at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 6800 or Crime Stoppers.
