X-Men: Days of Future Past

The X-men assemble to the past in the latest cinematic addition to the X-Men franchise, X-Men: Days of Future Past. The film which stands as a sequel to both The Wolverine and X-Men: First Class sees Wolverine, played by Hugh Jackman, sent back to the 1970’s in a bold attempt to alter history and prevent the dystopian future that spells doom for humans and mutants alike. In a world where shape-shifting robots have turned Central Park into a mutant concentration camp, the characters from the original X-Men trilogy mobilize with their younger selves from X-Men: First Class in an epic battle to prevent catastrophic disaster. The film also features the return of weather-controlling Storm, played by Halle Berry; shape-shifting Mystique, played by Jennifer Lawrence; and Kitty Pryde, who has the ability to walk through solid objects and is played by Ellen Page; as well as all of the other iconic characters that we are familiar with. We also get a dose of new additions to the cast including Blink, the teleporting mutant played by Chinese actress Fan Bingbing and Bishop, the energy-absorber played by Omar Sy.
X-Men: Days of Future Past is the seventh film in Marvel’s X-Men franchise, a franchise that has raked in over $2.3 billion at the global box office. The films, over time, have shifted from reflecting American culture and values to worldly views. “We want our movies to reflect the world,” says Lauren Shuler Donner while speaking to Reuters. “Years ago they sort of reflected the American culture, but it’s no longer about the American culture. It’s about the global culture.”
