Wynne a no-show, so Horwath & NDP decide to go

Ontario NDP leader Andrea Horwath and her caucus walked out of the legislature today to protest the absence of premier Kathleen Wynne.
“We basically have decided to refuse to participate in question period today. Today is an important day, it is the first day for us to get an opportunity to ask the premier questions about what came out last week in terms of the OPP search warrant documents and the cover-up of the gas plant scandal.”
“The premier decided not to show up today, not to be held accountable. Look, this is a premier that talks a good game about accountability, about transparency, but on the very first day that we would have a chance to hold her accountable for the information that came out last week, she decided not to show up.”
“So New Democrats have decided not to participate in question period today. We look forward to the premier coming to question period tomorrow so she can answer the questions.”
Horwath says her party does not accept the lack of leadership or accountability from the premier. She also dodged questions about whether her party would support the Liberal budget, saying at the moment, they just want answers on the gas plant scandal.
Wynne is in Sault Ste Marie today touring a local foundry and meeting with members of the Canadian Olympic gold medal men’s curling team.
