Torontonians looking to celebrate Canada Day needed venture no further than Queen’s Park today.

Hundreds gathered decked out in red and white to rock out to live music. There was a midway and activities for the kids and lots of food vendors.

The big event though was a reflective and hopeful address from Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne.

“We believe in taking care of one another, we believe in not leaving anyone behind, we believe in giving everyone the chance to thrive.”

“Here’s my challenge to us as Canadians and Ontarians. Let’s look for places where we are not living that value. Where we still have work to do.”

“Whether it is a new family that has moved into the neighbourhood, and maybe they come from a different part of the world. Or whether it is someone we have just learned they are gay or lesbian or trans or whether it’s someone who has a different skin colour or who has a different ability.”

It’s back to work for premier Wynne tomorrow when the legislature re-opens.. She has stated she will re-introduce her budget that features a multi-billion dollar transit fund and a new Ontario pension plan.
