Wynne on the defensive

Just a day before the byelections, the Liberals still can’t escape questions about the cancelled gas plant scandal.
Wednesday morning, Premier Kathleen Wynne was again forced to defend herself against accusations that she’s ignored the issue.
“The reason that the scope of the questions is what it is, is because I opened up the process. There needs to be clarity. There needs to be answers to these questions so that’s what’s happened the impact on the byelections as I say, will be decided by the people of the ridings. But we’re focused on the aspirations of this province for the future.”
The Progressive Conservatives have accused the Liberals of trying to convince the Speaker of the House to drop a contempt ruling. Wynne says she doesn’t support that kind of behaviour. The Speaker of the House issued a statement saying he wasn’t swayed by the conversation.
