World Food Day 2023 puts emphasis on water

Efforts to ensure food security across the globe starts by securing the world’s water supply. That’s according to the food and agriculture organization’s marking “World Food Day” today.
This year’s theme is focused on viewing water as a food source and its contribution to help sustain food production, as well as tackling human hunger. UN officials say nations should strive to conserve water – and find ways to share it better.
Only 3 per cent of the world’s water supply is freshwater, and most of it is frozen in glaciers. So, experts say now is the time to act as the demand for water will only increase dramatically within the next few decades.
