The Ontario Fire Marshal will be investigating the cause of a multi-alarm fire that sent a woman to hospital without vital signs.
The alarm was sounded at 120 Strathcona Avenue North just before 4:30 a.m. Fire crews responded to find fire throughout the 10th floor apartment where a woman believed to be in her 90s lived.
She was rushed to hospital, with reports saying she had second and third degree burns to 80 percent of her body.
Fire damage was contained to the single apartment, but because of the seriousness of the injury, the fire marshal will be investigating. There’s no word if the woman was revived in hospital.
Another person was treated for smoke inhalation but not taken to hospital.
Other residents of the building were able to safely remain inside their apartments.
