Woman struck in the head by masked man during Hamilton home invasion

Hamilton police are investigating a violent home invasion in the city’s north end.
Officers were called to a home on Niagara St. around 12:40 a.m. Monday.
A 25-year-old woman told police a man had forced his way inside the home and struck her over the head.
Overnight home invasion on Niagara st. In #HamOnt. Man wearing a balaclava broke in, hit the homeowner in the head. She was able to flee and call 911. Landlord says victim is ok. Attacker described as black, heavy build, 6ft, Jamaican accent. Details on @morninglive pic.twitter.com/EqWw7UjcjD

Police were contacted after the woman was able to flee the home.
The suspect is described as black, roughly six-feet tall, with a heavy build. He was wearing a balaclava, black boots and a black jacket.
