Woman dies in hospital following hit and run in NOTL

A 33-year-old woman has died in hospital following a hit and run in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Police say the woman was walking southbound along the side of Concession 7 Rd. near Line 6 Rd. around 10:50 p.m. Saturday.

She was struck by a dark coloured pickup truck that was also travelling southbound. Police say the vehicle did not stop and was last seen driving away from the scene.

The woman was taken to a local hospital in critical condition before being transported to an out of region trauma center. Police say she died in hospital on Monday due to her injuries.

Detectives are appealing to the public and collision repair businesses in the area to be aware of any pickup trucks with damage to the passenger side. They believe the truck may also be missing the passenger side mirror.

Investigators are asking any residents and businesses to check their security cameras for possible footage that could help the investigation.
