Woman attacked at ATM

A Thorold woman had her throat cut at an ATM last night.


Police say the woman was taking out cash at 8:30 at the Royal Bank on Front Street South.
Upon retrieving her money from the machine, she was approached from behind by a man armed with a knife.
The man wrapped his arm around the female’s neck and placed the knife directly to her throat, demanding the money and her purse.
The victim tried to fight him off and then had her neck cut and purse stolen.
The man attempted to flee the area however several eyewitnesses led officers to him where they made an arrest.
The woman was taken to hospital where she was treated for a laceration to her neck and released.
Charged with one count of Robbery in relation to this offence is 35 year old Thorold resident, Colin Laws.
