Woman, 80, facing impaired driving charges following deadly crash in Jordan

An 80-year-old woman is facing impaired driving charges in a deadly crash that claimed the life of a 50-year-old man.
Back on Sept. 3, Niagara emergency crews were called to the area of Victoria Ave. and Spring Creek Rd. in Jordan for reports of a collision.
Police say an 80-year-old woman was travelling westbound on Spring Creek Rd. when she went through the intersection and was struck by a pickup truck being driven by a 50-year-old man.
The crash caused the pickup truck to collide with a nearby tractor trailer being driven by a 22-year-old man.
The 80-year-old woman was ejected from her vehicle and transported to an out-of-region hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The 50-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The tractor trailer driver did not suffer any injuries.
On Tuesday, Niagara police arrested and charged the 80-year-old woman with operation while impaired causing death, operation 80 mgs and over and causing death by criminal negligence.
Police say a publication ban has been put in place and limited further details will be released.
