Woman, 71, hospitalized after being struck by vehicle in Hamilton’s east end

A 71-year-old woman is in life-threatening condition after being struck by a vehicle in Hamilton’s east end on Thursday evening.
Police say that the woman was crossing Queenston Road northbound at Riverdale Drive when she was struck by a westbound Jaguar just before 5:30 p.m.
The pedestrian was rushed to hospital while the driver, a 72-year-old man from Grimsby remained on scene, cooperating with investigators.
Though officers say an investigation remains ongoing, at this time speed, distraction and impairment have been ruled out as factors.
Due to the severity of the incident, the region’s collision reconstruction unit has been called in to complete the investigation.
