Woman, 22, charged after police pursuit in Niagara Falls

A 22-year-old woman is facing charges after a police pursuit Friday morning in the Niagara region.

Police received a report at 10:25 a.m. about a company vehicle that was stolen from the area of Garden Gate Terrace and John St. in Lincoln.

A traffic officer spotted the vehicle at 10:50 a.m. on the QEW near Mountain Rd. in Niagara Falls.

The driver then exited the highway at Thorold Stone Rd. where another officer turned on their lights and siren in an attempt to pull them over.

Const. Barry Ravenek told CHCH News that the stolen vehicle got caught in traffic at a light around 10:52 a.m. The driver then reversed into the police cruiser, causing minor damages.

Officers say the driver continued eastbound on Thorold Stone Rd. before striking and damaging a parked vehicle on Burbank Crescent. Police say the woman then ran away.

The St. Catharines woman was arrested and charged at 10:59 a.m. after a canine found her in a backyard.

Police are not releasing the identity of the accused at this time.
