Witnesses sought after 2 people struck by truck in Vaughan

York Regional Police is appealing for witnesses to come forward after a truck driver struck two pedestrians and then fled the scene Monday night.
Police say a 44-year-old man and 45-year-old woman were crossing the roadway at the intersection of Yonge St. and Meadowview Ave., just north of Steeles Ave. around 8:25 p.m.
Surveillance video shows a white pickup truck attempting to make a left turn when it hits the pedestrians. The truck briefly slows down and then drives away from the scene.
The woman suffered life threatening injuries and was rushed to hospital where she remains. The man suffered only minor injuries.
Police are urging the driver of the pickup truck to seek legal counsel and turn themselves in.
Investigators are also trying to locate to the driver of a white compact SUV that was stopped at the light and can be seen in the surveillance video. Police believe the SUV driver may have witnessed the collision.
