A special weather statement is in effect for Niagara Region with winter weather expected to make a return Friday night.

Environment Canada says a low pressure system tracking up from the southern United States is expected to bring the potential for accumulating snow starting late Friday afternoon to early Saturday morning.

Gusty northwesterly winds are expected to develop Saturday afternoon which will cause some localized blowing snow and reduced visibility at times.

The weather agency says it is not known how much snow will hit the region.

Motorists should drive according to road and weather conditions.
