Winning name revealed for newest member of the Niagara police K9 unit

Niagara police have revealed the winning name for the newest member of the police K9 unit.
Police launched a contest last month for residents to submit their name suggestions for the 11-month-old English Pointer.
At the time, police said the 51-lbs pup had a “nose meant for tracking.”
On Tuesday, police tweeted the pup will now go by the name Maximus Tracker.
Police said the winning name came from a class at a school in the Niagara Catholic District School Board.
The new recruit will join the Niagara Regional Police Service Canine Unit as a search and rescue dog to help find vulnerable and missing persons as well as to assist with ground searches for evidence.
