Wine boutique opens in wine country

Wine consumers in St. Catharines now have a wider selection of Ontario wines to choose from, with the opening the first destination wine country boutique in the province.
The boutique officially opened at the Glendale Avenue store in south St. Catharines Thursday afternoon. It will help boost the profile of Ontario’s smaller wineries. More than 500 Ontario labels will be available. Grape Growers of Ontario Executive Director Debbie Zimmerman calls the announcement a good start: “We need to see more focus on Ontario wines because it is one of the economic drivers in this province. More jobs are created every day when there is a bottle of wine that is 100% Ontario grown on the shelves.”
Four other “Our Wine Country” boutique stores will open including the LCBO in Niagara Falls. The Niagara wine industry would like to see Ontario wines featured more prominently in LCBO stores in the GTHA.
