Wild Waterworks to re-open after a two-year hiatus

After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, Wild Waterworks is reopening for the summer.

The Hamilton Conservation Authority says the opening date is expected to be toward the end of June. However, it says the water park will be adjusting its operations this year due to a lifeguard shortage.

“The pandemic has meant two years of very little lifeguard training and expiring certifications on top of that, making fewer lifeguards available,” said Sara Kinnear, the Manager of Wild Waterworks in a statement. “Shortages of all kinds are commonplace these days, and now, lifeguards are in short supply to start the summer, impacting many facilities.”

This year, the park will operate five days per week, Wednesdays through Sundays, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., weather permitting. The park will also open on the Civic Holiday on Monday, August 1 and Labour Day on Monday, September 5.

Tickets and season passes will be available for purchase online before opening day.
