Wild Ontario Exhibit

You’ll find more than just butterflies at the Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory this Family Day long weekend. You’ll also be able to see some slimy, slithery and feathery animals at the conservatory’s Wild Ontario Exhibit.

Kestrels, barn owls, and snakes are just a few of the animals that will be on display at the exhibit that opens tomorrow.

You’ll be able to do more than just look! You’ll have the opportunity to actually interact with the animals, and may even overcome a fear.

The interactive exhibit also educates about some of the species in Ontario that are at risk.

“All of us can make a difference in how we help the environment for animals, and help keep the species alive.” said Janice Thomson, Chair of Niagara Parks

Access to Wild Ontario is included with admission to the Butterfly Conservatory, which has just gone through a metamorphosis of its own.

“Once every seven years we have to change the netting on the conservatory because the UV starts to deteriorate it, and it gets discoloured.” said Cheryl Tyndall, who is a curator at the Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory.

The exhibit space itself, along with the floors and walls have also been transformed after six weeks of renovations.
