Wheel watchers were astonished

Wheel watchers had a “wheel” surprise on CHCH last night when Emil de Leon — a San Francisco nursing student — did something so truly astounding that it left the show’s host — Pat Sajak — speechless.

People were certainly talking about it — as Emil de Leon cashed in on a wild guess to solve a puzzle with almost no information. It’s a feat that’s being called the most amazing solve — in the history of “The Wheel”. Three words. Two letters. And one very skeptical host: “Well, this looks tough to me. You’re a pretty good puzzle solver but I don’t know. Just keep talking and maybe the right thing will pop out. Good luck.”

Good luck is right. Two letters. Three words? We thought we’d take that puzzle to Hamilton’s café society — to see how far they could get with it:

“Not a clue. I couldn’t think of anything. No.”

“What’s the theme? What’s the clue? It’s general. It could be anything. Is there a hyphen in there? New York something.”

“New York State?”

“New York bagel?”

“Not New York City — but I’m close.”

Well — Not Really.

And the answer is: “New baby buggy.”

Yeah. Even the show producers were amazed.

“New. Baby. Buggy? — Well! OK! Just on the tip of my tongue!”

Some found it hard to believe:

“New baby buggy. There ya go. ya, I heard something coming in on the radio, and they think it’s fixed.”

But at least some were impressed:

“New Baby Buggy. Wow! Good for Him!”

Really good for him in fact. Which proves I guess — that it doesn’t take a lot — to get a lot. You just gotta go with the flow.
