What jurors did not hear in trial against now-convicted killer Keith Overholt

The trial against Keith Overholt ended Tuesday night with three guilty verdicts, but as with any trial by jury, there are some things the jurors did not get to see or hear.
After deliberating for just seven hours, the 12-person jury found Overholt guilty on one count of first-degree murder in the death of 29-year-old Andrew Ainscow, and guilty on two counts of the attempted murder of two other victims.
While these decisions were made based on material presented in court, there were things said and done by the accused in the absence of jurors.
CHCH News’ Kelly Botelho says Overholt remained quiet in court while the jury was present, but there were times when he spoke up.
Most notably, when the accused told the judge that “Satan was speaking to him.”
Overholt also threatened to fire his lawyer just before closing arguments, but agreed to keep his legal counsel after the judge informed him he would need to make his own closing submissions.
Tuesday morning, Overholt delayed court by an hour and a half when he refused to leave his cell and was reportedly non-verbal.
After showing up to court, he was found guilty on all charges. His sentencing hearing will take place at a later date.
