Weston to meet with YoPro couple
A Burlington couple who say they’ve lost everything after a deal with Loblaw fell through will get a chance to meet with the chain’s executive chair, Galen Weston.
Amanda House told CHCH News She was contacted yesterday afternoon by someone from Galen Weston’s office requesting a meeting. House says she will meet with him but she isn’t sure when yet.
Weston asked to meet with her after she posted a tearful appeal on YouTube.
Amanda House and Chris Delaney say they’ve lost close to a million dollars after a deal with Loblaw to sell their brand of frozen yogurt fell through. They have emails and faxes between them and the grocery chain, documenting a deal they made in 2008 for it to be carried in more than 260 stores across Ontario.
They say their health is suffering over the stress and anxiety of the situation, and when CHCH News spoke to House yesterday, she said she made the YouTube video after Delaney collapsed late last week and was rushed to hospital.
Amanda’s video has been viewed thousands of times and has sparked a lot of reaction on Twitter and Facebook.
Weston responded in a statement saying “the events she describes are deeply disturbing and do not in any way meet the high ethical standards aspired to by Loblaw companies and outlined in its code of conduct.”
He says he’s requested a personal meeting with Amanda to better understand the situation, adding that the company will do it’s best to resolve it right away.
The company says it did carry the product in hundreds of its stores for more than a year but it didn’t sell well.
House and Delaney are suing for $20 million.
