WestJet system outage affecting airline’s operations, causing delays

Many travellers are expressing their frustrations with delays amid a nationwide WestJet Airlines outage Thursday morning.

WestJet said in a statement that an IT outage is impacting its airport check-in processes, flight planning, website and operations.

An intermittent IT outage is impacting @WestJet’s airport check-in, flight planning and website and operations.

We will continue to provide updates and appreciate our guests patience and understanding. Guests impacted will be reaccommodated.

Delays as a result of the outage have been reported at Toronto Pearson International Airport, Calgary International Airport and Vancouver International Airport, among others.

WestJet spokeswoman Morgan Bell is encouraging travellers to arrive at the airport early and check their flight status for potential delays.

Bell said WestJet is working to restore service as soon as possible.

She also thanked travellers for their patience.

WestJet said it will continue to provide updates throughout the day.
